A little hospital scare

We just got back from the hospital. Not what we planned to do for the day. Yesterday at work I started having terrible pains in my pelvic area. I didn't know what was causing it but the pain was fairly severe. It lasted for about twenty minutes and then tamed down. It continued through the night and into the morning. I was getting off work in the morning and the pain came back. I talked to the ER doctor before I left and he said I should get checked if I start having bleeding or contractions. I started freaking and left work. I called BJ and he calmed me down and I decided it was okay because I wasn't having either problem. I made a quick stop to Walmart only to have the pain come back and I started to have tightening in my pelvis and pain in my back. It didnt seem to go away. I freaked again and called my mom to ask what contractions felt like. First baby...no idea!!!! After a freaked out mother, I called BJ and we decided to go to the hospital. They did a full spectrum of exams: blood work, pelvic exam, and an ultrasound. Baby was fine on the ultrasound and didn't show any stress. Everything else was negative. They said they could give me some medicine to help relax, but before 20 weeks they wouldn't give me medicine to stop the contractions. The pain had decreased and all the tightening went away. We ended up leaving with a fairly clean bill of health. My OB dr called and spoke to me in the ER and said I was to be on bedrest until my appt with her on Tues when we would re evaluate the situation. I am pretty sure that I pulled a muscle, straining at work. I had a long Saturday that involved moving lots of people. I didn't lift anyone but I think I did some ackward movements that strained my round ligament. The dr also thinks this is the mostly likely reason for it. I don't know what to do about work, there really isn't much I can change about what I do while at work. So after a long day at the hospital I am relieved that it is over. So for the next few days I will be hanging out on the couch. Not exactly what I had in mind but as long as Princess (we decided peanut is for a boy) is okay I can relax for a couple days.

It's a girl! We think......

Okay once again....this darn peanut is trouble. Today I had another ultrasound. I did my pregnancy pilates last night and I shifted the baby higher. (Sure did make my back feel better too) Baby's butt was finally not sitting on my bladder and we could see clearly. Three white lines...girl! I am still hesitant to believe it cause this kid has figured out how to grow parts and make them disappear depending on the day. I have my official ultrasound with my doctor in two weeks so I am going to compare what the tech thinks. My ultrasound friend that is doing them just laughs each time we look. He has a 100% prediction rate for 15 years of ultrasound. He admits I have been the most difficult OB ultrasound. Just what I wanted! Guess I deserve it for all my impatience. So for another two weeks this baby is officially a GIRL! (It is just getting embarrassing to post this....)

Confusion.....

Today we took another ultrasound (yes I know a little obsessive!) I just wanted to double check on the sex status. I have been buying boy stuff because of the prior ultrasound when we had a peek of a "poker". On today's ultrasound we had one quick glimpse we thought we saw a "poker" but could not get another pic. I had two ultrasounds prior to today and we were not been able to see a "poker" then. Grrr. I really want to know! I realize I should just be patient but that is NOT going to happen. Now I am wondering if it is really a girl? The baby is breech and has it's bottom way low in my pelvis which is why we have not been able to get a clear pic. I talked to a dr at work that gave me the "exercises" they have woman do to get the baby to turn. He doubted they would work but I thought I might give it a try. I am taking back my BOY announcement until I know for sure. HOW DISAPPOINTING!!!!!!

16 week Belly Pics

New belly pics. I am 16 weeks so I thought I would take some new belly pics. I am amazed at the growth in such a short time. Everything is going good. My appetite is hardy to say the least. I have a feeling the lack of weight gain is over. I have always been a good eater but I am finding it much harder to keep my eating in check. I will continue to blame it on Peanut being just like his dad......For everyone who knows BJ this is a legitimate excuse. I think he only eats 4000 calories a day and still manages to be 175 lbs. ;)

Another Dr Appointment

On Tuesday I had my most recent check-up. Just the usual weigh-in, pee, and heartbeat. Everything was good. I had gained 0.5 lbs, my pee was fine, and the baby's heart rate was 150. So nothing exciting to report. I have looked at the baby a couple more times with ultrasound. Two arms, two legs, spine, stomach....all looks good so far.

Our bathroom remodel is still trickling along. We have the new tub installed. We finished the new wall in the bedroom, framed in the closet, made many repairs and getting new carpet installed in the bedroom. By next week we should have the bedroom completed and put back together. Although I love having a one foot path to walk down the hallway....It will be great! The bathroom has lots of work still to be done: tile the floors, new vanity, new toilet, new texturing, and new paint. One day it will be done!

IT'S A BOY!!!

Well....I had another ultrasound today. We had four different pics of a "bottom" view and there was a "poker" (that's what the technologist kept calling it.) So I am going to officially announce the baby is a BOY.

I am headed to Twin Falls for the weekend so if anyone is available for lunch or just wanting to hang out give me a call. See you soon.
