The Ultrasound

So I had the ultrasound and it was GREAT news. I am not pregnant so it's NOT WONDERFUL but at this point I will accept great! My ovaries showed lots more follicles...not cysts. This time we were able to see three or four large follicles on each ovary which we have NEVER seen. Before they were very small. Yeah!

I have met a new friend through a friend of a friend. She also has PCOS. We have been emailing and she has had five years of dealing with it, trying to get pregnant (she has a 16 month old now!), the medicine, and fertility doctors. She has been wonderful help!!! She recommended a fertility book (can't remember the name) I ordered it from Amazon yesterday and can't wait to get it. I will blog about all my new knowledge....you know when I have some. New friends are great too!

As for now, that is about it!

My Birthday

This weekend was Memorial Weekend and my BIRTHDAY! I would like to say I don't like the number that is starting to associate with this but I still like it being my BIRTHDAY! We spent the long weekend at Field Springs which is a forest in Washington near the Oregon border. We had never been there but found out it was beautiful! We went with a six other people which always makes for a good time. We were able to go hiking (I know, ME hiking...lots of breaks:) ) BJ bought me a fancy shmancy mountain bike for my present which I was able to try out on a number of the paths. We had fun times playing games and eating. Overall it was a great birthday weekend!! I will try to post some pics when I get a chance.

As for baby making....still just practicing. I had an ultrasound last Thursday because I was having horrendous pain on my right side. The ultrasound showed a large follicle/cyst area. We were not sure if it was a large cyst or a dominant follicle. It stopped hurting after a couple days. Tomorrow I am going to have another ultrasound and see if it has shrunk or if I have free fluid in my pelvis (which would mean a burst cyst). I am hoping it was a follicle but it is sort of bad news if it is a cyst. The medicine is supposed to stop the growing of cysts. (aka Poly (many) Cystic (cysts/fluid) Ovarian Syndome "many cysts on ovaries". Guess I will see tomorrow!

Another Dr Appt and Medical Discoveries

Today I had a check up with the doctor. Everything went good. After reviewing the past two months the dr feels I should keep taking the glucophage for the next couple months and see if it works. Now that I am feeling better I think this is the best option. If there is NO pregnancy by the end of the summer then we are going to try fertility drugs. The dr says there is an even higher chance of multiple babies with polycystic due to the fact there are more eggs ready to be released and when you "feed" them fertility drugs they are all released. Given that information we will be waiting to take the fert. meds.

My new found medical discovery is that Milk of Magnesia (yes the laxative pastey stuff) works great for acne. I had read a number of articles about it but discredited the information. In my desperation to treat my acne I gave it a try. I am seeing amazing results! I wish I would have given it a try prior to spending $200 in medicating creams that burned my face. I would recommend anyone with "cystic acne" to try it. After washing your face you apply a thin coat over your face. You can wash it off after 15 min or sleep with it on. It also works great at absorbing oil so you can put a thin layer over your oily areas (T zone) and add lotion and makeup over the top. AMAZING. Safe for pregnancy, so if you are pregnant and having major hormonal acne, give it a try! No one likes zits so pass the info on.

Update

Okay so my last entry has become a lie. I finally got the new prescription of EXTENDED RELEASE Glucophage. Guess what? It works great without the horrible side effects. Sure glad I just spent a month nauseated and vomiting. GRRR So on the positive note, I "think" it might work. Time will tell!

This last weekend Jamie and Dallas came for a visit. We went out dancing on Saturday night. Went on an airplane ride over Lake Coeur d'Alene, that was really pretty. Bought a GMC Diesel Truck which is quite fancy shmancy! BJ's new toy. Hate the idea of the price of diesel but we needed one to pull the camper this summer. It was a great weekend and hopefully I will figure out how to post pics on the blog.

Tomorrow we are headed to Walla Walla, WA for the New Release of this Year's WINE! We will have two days of visiting the wineries and tasting all the new flavors!
